  10. To achieve a winning finesse with your game, you must realize that
  11. discs require a certain rapport with their owner. You must treat
  12. each disc with respect, and care for it as though it were a
  13. cherished pet. Bathing your discs should be done routinely and with
  14. utmost care and reverent ceremony.
  15.  
  16. You should also sand your discs when they sustain injuries. If you
  17. fail to do this, they will bite your fingers when you try to throw
  18. them! This is not considered post-production modification of the
  19. disc, as it does not alter the flight characteristics. Once you
  20. have bashed a disc (as in smashing a tree), no amount of sanding
  21. will keep it from being a "turn over disc".

  23. Discs in your bag rarely show their personality, but once in
  24. flight, you will need every bit of psychology you know to keep them
  25. under control. Therefore, you should prepare yourself ahead of time
  26. by learning what you can about disc behavior.

  28. Never order your disc to do something if you don't really mean it.
  29. For example, never say "Get down!" Your disc is sure to run into
  30. the nearest tree limb and dive to the ground a hundred feet short
  31. of the hole. Never say to a putt, "Get up!" I have observed this
  32. over a hundred times, and every single one hit the rim and lay on
  33. the ground just like an "up" shot. Discs will take your meaning
  34. very literally!

  36. Discs really don't care where they are going, so they usually don't
  37. watch. In fact, they would just as soon watch you. This little
  38. known fact can be used to your advantage, since it gives you the
  39. opportunity to use hand signals! Discs respond very favorably to
  40. the use of hand signals, especially in encouraging right or left
  41. drift. Blowing or pushing movement can encourage your disc to go
  42. farther. Never wave bye-bye to your disc, as it is sure to become
  43. lost!

  45. Never order your disc to do something against its nature. For
  46. example, never say, "Get legs!" This will cause your disc to
  47. realize that it in fact doesn't have legs, causing it to become
  48. depressed, lethargic, and it will slow down, falling way short of
  49. the hole.

  51. Discs try to be loyal to their master, but they are easily
  52. confused. If they hear a different voice, they try to jerk around
  53. to get a better look at who was talking. This frequently causes
  54. them to bash trees, even when initially heading for the basket. For
  55. this reason it is considered proper golf etiquette not to talk to
  56. another golfer's disc in flight. ("Nice shot!" ...whack).
